North America
We have provided services to the U.S. oil and gas industry for more than 90 years. We believe that the United States will continue to be an important market for our services.
Deregulation of the electric power and natural gas pipeline industries in the United States has led to the consolidation and reconfiguration of existing pipeline infrastructure and the establishment of new energy transport systems, which we expect will result in continued demand for our services. The demand for natural gas for industrial and power usage in the United States should increase the requirement to build new natural gas transportation infrastructure in the region, including new facilities for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The demand for new construction and replacement and rehabilitation of pipelines is expected to increase as pipeline systems in the United States and elsewhere approach the end of their design lives and population trends influence overall energy needs.
In Canada, proposed new investments in the oil sands area of northern Alberta and the natural gas potential of the McKenzie River Valley are expected to present new opportunities for our Canadian operating unit, Willbros Canada Inc.
